Purpose of Website
This website will serve a dual purpose. 1. As a professional portfolio to demonstrate my Instructional Technology Proficiency. 2. As a resource bank for my Spanish I and Spanish II students.
Throughout my Graduate program I have learned the difference between technology use and technology integration. Technology should allow us to accomplish tasks that were previously thought of as impossible. I am shifting from the lower level of the SAMR model to a higher one as I continue to develop my and my student's technology skills. I also realized that I have to teach my students digital skills just as much as I have to teach them Spanish. Many students we assume are digital natives but in fact they are not when it comes to educational technology.
Not only did I learn about the difference between use and integration of technology but I was introduced to several technology integration models. Also, I learned how I can gather, analyze, and use data to better inform my teaching decisions. Before I took TE 800 grades were just numbers that went into the grade book but now I use this information to inform my teaching decisions.
