Resource Videos for Teachers
One of my duties while at NCHS was to be the head of a professional learning community (PLC) revolving around Google Classroom. A few teachers who were interested joined my group at the beginning of the semester. As the school year progressed some teachers were unable to attend some of the meetings and others stated that they wanted to join but were part of a core class PLC and therefore were unable to do both. In order to accommodate all teachers I decided to use Awesome Screenshot, an extension that I purchased, to record educational videos. These videos are currently on a Google Classroom, to which all teachers at NCHS have been invited.
As teachers have become more comfortable with the 1:1 Chromebooks more teachers incorporated classroom. As features are added I continue to update my library of videos. Also, I post tools or sites that can be integrated with classroom.
I have also used this tool to record videos when I was unable to attend class and I left a screen recording for the students to watch. In the future I may decide to flip my classroom. This way students can take notes at home and we can spend more time in class speaking our target language.
Screen recordings are a great way to not only help keep my students engaged and learning but it is also a great way to help educate my colleagues. Creating a video library is convenient for all teachers as they can watch the videos to learn new about new topics or to review previous materials they have forgotten. Screen recordings were also required for several of my graduate classes including Tech Tools for Teachers.

Student Poster for a Summer Camp
In Spanish I, Chapter 4A and 4B, students are learning about sports and outdoor activities. For a project the students had to create a poster advertising a summer camp that they would be hosting. Students were given the choice of tools they could use. Throughout my graduate classes I learned that by allowing students choice in their activities this would result in increased motivation. They were able to choose between Canva, Venngage, and Google Drawings. This specific example was from Google Drawings. It is a free tool and it easily incorporates into Google Classroom. I prefer apps or sites that have direct integration into Google Classroom as this is easier for students to submit work.
Google Drawings is an excellent tool to foster student creativity. Students start with a blank template and can customize every feature. They are not restricted to a set template or structure. Once students have been shown some of the tools they are able to create some truly unique digital media. ISTE #1A, 2A, |
