Team Drive and A+ Classes
To the right are some screenshots that I took to show viewers the Google Team Drive that I created for our A+ teachers. One of the tasks that I undertook was to organize a system to keep track of our students progress in the A+ (credit recovery) classes. Originally there was one three ring binder that had the master copies of the each grade sheet. Teachers had to use the copier to produce a copy and then began filling out the grade sheets by hand. When I started in the Fall there were 5 teachers who proctored these periods. Many of us had the same students but in different periods. At the end of the semester our task was to fill out grade sheets for the students and send these to the guidance office. However, we needed a way to keep track of which teacher was filling out which grade sheet. We didn't want to duplicate any work. My idea was to use Google Team Drive and Google Docs in order to organize our efforts. In Team Drive we uploaded all of the Grading Sheets from Microsoft Word and created a folder for the sheets. Each student in A+ was also given a folder. Anytime a teacher worked on a grade sheet they made a copy of the sheet and put it into the students folder. This way teachers could check a students folder before making a duplicate grade sheet. When the 2nd semester started new teachers were added to the Team Drive and teachers who no longer proctored an A+ class were removed. Team Drive is a very new feature that Google has added and I feel that this artifact models how I am able to effectively use emerging technology. ISTE #3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 5A, 5B |
AutoCrat Add-on and Google Forms
I used Google Forms and an add on called AutoCrat to communicate with students what assignments they missed if they were absent. At the beginning of each period I would fill out a brief Google Form with the pertinent information for any student who may be absent. At the end of the day I ran the autocrat tool and then an automatic email including a PDF document was sent to the student. This has been a great communication tool for me and allows me to easily send a large number of emails to students who might be sick, at an appointment, or at a school sponsored activity. Many students appreciated the fact that I took the time to email them this document which informed whether or not they missed an assignment. Some days with multiple sports events going on this was the most effective way to communicate relevant information to all students. I used to write these out by hand but this was time consuming. Also, by doing this via email it requires students to check their school emails, which not all of them do on a regular basis. Checking one's email is also another habit I hope to instill in them as this is a primary means of communication in many workplaces. Examples of the Google Form and the PDF emailed to the student are displayed to the right. ISTE #3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 5A, 5B |
Spanish I and Spanish II Websites
Up on the top right corner you can view the website pages that I have made for my Spanish I and II students. Each page has a Quizlet flashcard set, numerous practice activities, videos/power points, and other useful materials. As I continue to find or make materials I add them to my website.
I have also made a Web Quest Activity for Spanish II Chapter 8A.
This website is a great repository of additional practice for my Spanish students. When students state that they need extra practice I will usually send them a link to the specific chapter on my website page. I have created this article for the sole purpose of supporting my students in their foreign language learning.
I feel that this website demonstrates my ability and fluency with designing an educational website and digital portfolio. Both the Spanish website and the Web Quest were activities that were completed in my Graduate classes at UNK.
